Seit 2008 zeigt die Galerie ausschließlich zeitgenössisch-konkrete, nicht-gegenständliche, geometrisch-konstruktive Kunst.
Ein zusätzlicher Fokus ist Architektur und Architektur-Fotografie.

„Scheme“ benannte Sabine Laidig ihren Beitrag zur Ausstellung „FutureShock OneTwo“, mit der
dr. julius | ap zu Beginn des Jahres internationale Positionen im Umfeld Neuer Konkreter Kunst zeigte. Der englische Ausdruck „Scheme“ meinte für sie dabei vor allem „Entwurf“, oder auch „Vorhaben“ und „Plan“. Mit minimalem, mehrschichtigem Farbauftrag von Weißtönen stand diese Arbeit stellvertretend für ihre aktuelle, in zahlreichen Serien von Zeichnung vorbereitete Untersuchung feinster Nuancen von Farbschwingungen und deren Frequenzen.
Dieses „Vorhaben“ findet nun in ihrer Einzelausstellung in der Galerie der Neuen Konkreten seine konsequente Fortsetzung: CHROMA versammelt in den Räumen von dr. julius | ap eine systematisch durchgearbeitete Reihe von Arbeiten in gleicher Größe, die sich dem Phänomen der Farbe und ihres Klangs auf grundlegende Art und Weise nähern. Augenscheinlichste und charakteristischste Merkmale sind dabei die extreme Reduktion der Mittel auf wenige Farbpigmente und die geringfügige Variation der Rhythmen ihrer Streifen und Raster. So erzeugt sie feinste Nuancen von Lichträumen, die sich dem genauen Betrachten eröffnen – und nur im Original ihre volle Wirkung entfalten. Denn trotz aller technischen Möglichkeiten ist keine Reproduktion in der Lage, den vollen Umfang des Zusammenspiels von Farbauftrag, Bildrhythmus und Lichtwirkung ihrer Arbeiten einzufangen.
Begleitend zu der Werkgruppe auf MDF gemalter Arbeiten werden Sabine Laidigs vorausgehende Zeichnungen zu sehen sein, in denen sie den Bildraum und die Rhythmen der einzelnen Raster untersuchte. Auch in ihnen ist es die auf wenige wesentliche Elemente zurückgeführte Klarheit des konstruierten Bildraumes, die dem Betrachter das Erkennen von feinsten Variationen ermöglicht.
Sämtliche Arbeiten der Ausstellung sind speziell für die Räume von dr. julius | ap gefertigt worden, aus deren geometrischen Verhältnissen Sabine Laidig sowohl deren Anzahl als auch den Rhythmus der Hängung entwickelt hat.

‘Scheme’ is the name of Sabine Laidig’s contribution to ‘FutureShock OneTwo,’ an exhibition of international perspectives in the field of New Concrete art shown at dr. julius | ap at the beginning of the year. For Laidig, the English expression ‘scheme’ primarily means ‘design,’ as well as ‘intention’ and ‘plan.’ With a minimal, layered coat of white tones, this work represents her current investigations into the finest nuances of color-vibrations and their frequencies, displayed in her many series of drawings.
Laidig’s new solo show in the Gallery of the New Concrete is thus the logical progression of this ‘intention’: in CHROMA, a systematic series of works of the same size is hung in the rooms of dr. julius | ap. The series works through and approaches the phenomenon of colors and their resonances in very fundamental ways. The most characteristic features here are the extreme reduction of media to just a few pigments, and the minor variations of rhythm of the stripes and patterns. In this way she brings out the fine nuances of the spaces of light that open to careful viewing. The full effect develops only in the originals: despite technology’s many possibilities, no reproduction can capture the breadth of the interplay in the coats of paint, the image rhythm, and the effects of light.
Sabine Laidig’s preliminary drawings, in which she investigates the space of the images and the rhythm of the individual patterns, will accompany the group of work painted on MDF. In the drawings too, it is the clarity of the constructed image-space, depending on just a few essential elements, which enables the viewer’s recognition of the finest variations.
All the works in the exhibition were created especially for the rooms of dr. julius | ap, from whose geometric relationships Sabine Laidig determined the number of works, as well as the rhythm in which they are displayed.
